Day 16 - Way 16

I was able to finish a ton of work at my job today as well as finishing a paper that was due today. I really feel blessed that I could have the strength to accomplish all of these things. I also feel blessed by the creativity that has been flowing to me today. It has inspired some great work!

Holding to the Iron Rod in Times of Crisis

"At . . . moments of crisis and challenge, some choose to abandon faith just at the time when it most needs to be embraced. Prayer is ignored at the very hour when it needs to be intensified. Virtue is carelessly tossed aside when it needs to be cherished. God is forsaken in the all-too-human yet mistaken fear that He has forsaken us.
"The truth is that our only safety, our only security, our only hope is to hold fast to that which is good. As the mists of darkness gather around us, we are only lost if we choose to let go of the iron rod, which is the word of God."

David S. Baxter, "Faith, Service, Constancy," Ensign, Nov. 2006, 14

Looking on the Positive Side

"You have a choice. You can wring your hands and be consumed with concern for the future or choose to use the counsel the Lord has given to live with peace and happiness in a world awash with evil. If you choose to concentrate on the dark side, this is what you will see. . . . Now the brighter side. Despite pockets of evil, the world overall is majestically beautiful, filled with many good and sincere people. God has provided a way to live in this world and not be contaminated by the degrading pressures evil agents spread throughout it. You can live a virtuous, productive, righteous life by following the plan of protection created by your Father in Heaven: His plan of happiness.

"Richard G. Scott, "How to Live Well amid Increasing Evil," Ensign, May 2004, 100

Doing Our Best with Our Families

"Sometimes as parents we feel we have failed when our children make mistakes or stray. Parents are never failures when they do their best to love, teach, pray, and care for their children. Their faith, prayers, and efforts will be consecrated to the good of their children. . . . No family has reached perfection. All families are subject to the conditions of mortality. All of us are given the gift of agency--to choose for ourselves and to learn from the consequences of our choices."

Robert D. Hales, "With All the Feelings of a Tender Parent," Ensign, May 2004, 88

Ability to Feel the Lord's Love Depends on our Actions

"As faithful [members] of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we have been blessed with the Holy Ghost. As we invite the Savior into our lives, the Holy Ghost will bear witness to us of the love which the Father and His Son, our Savior, have for each of us. But feeling Their love is dependent not only on our desire but upon our actions as well. And the actions we need to take are known to us: genuine prayer that is specific and humble, followed by quiet listening for the Lord's answers; regular scripture study and time to ponder what we read; and, finally, a willingness to be introspective about ourselves and to trust in the Lord's promise that He will 'make weak things become strong unto [us]' (Ether 12:27)."

Kathleen H. Hughes, "Remembering the Lord's Love," Ensign, Nov. 2006, 112
